Extended Group Visits

Our practice is quite different from that of a typical doctor's office as Dr. Saxena's approach to healthcare has always been and continues to be heavily dependent on the education our team provides to our patients.  Research shows that patients do better when given comprehensive education on the factors that may cause, worsen or improve their condition because they are able to relate this information to all of their treatment options.

During a typical office visit, there is so much information that we want to share with you   about your particular health challenge. However, we are often unable to do so because of insurance/time limitations on office visits.  Given the complexity of many conditions and patients, we would love to have even more time.  Fortunately, the American Academy of Family Practice has developed an insurance-friendly method allowing us to spend a significant amount of time (up to 1.5 hours) to meet with you in the setting of an Extended Group Visit.  We believe that better education helps you make better choices about your health care.

If you see a Extended Group Visit that you'd like to attend and meet the criteria for the symptoms listed, please call us at 813-269-2700 or email us at info@sevamedinstitute.com.

How Is An Extended Group Visit Conducted?

Dr. Saxena and the entire team are excited to offer Extended Group Visits as we understand our patients' need for maximum information and welcome the opportunity to share our expertise to help you achieve your health goals. We are proud to be pioneers alongside you as we redefine and improve the healthcare experience.

When you arrive for your Extended Group Visit, our Medical Assistant will check your vital signs and provide you with the necessary paperwork that will serve as your "class notes."  At this time, you will join other patients also scheduled for the Extended Group Visit.  Once assembled, Dr. Saxena or the Lead Healthcare Provider specializing in the topic will give a 30-45 minute in-depth lecture followed by a group question and answer session.  These sessions are made to be educational as well as engaging - no boring ‘classroom' style here.  In the question and answer session you will benefit not only by having your own questions answered, but by hearing some of the other challenges/questions that perhaps you hadn't considered.  You are also welcome to bring a guest along to help with understanding and decision making.

Immediately following the question and answer session, Dr. Saxena or the Lead Healthcare Provider will review each patient's paperwork and initiate any changes to the plan of care as it relates to the lecture topic. This brief visit with you will help our team develop our "To-Do list" for you. This will be carried out the same day or the next business day (e.g. prescription called into pharmacy, referral to another physician, radiology order, lab order, etc.) and then communicated back to you.
